Vocational Service Month: Choosing One’s Vocation

During Vocational Service Month, the Rotaract Club of Mount Aureol hosted an insightful session focused on the theme “Choosing One’s Vocation.” Vocational service, as defined by Rotary International, involves leveraging professional skills and expertise to address community needs and create a positive impact. This event highlighted the significance of vocations in providing personal fulfillment, supporting families, and contributing to society.

Inspiring Guest Speakers

We were honored to host two distinguished professionals who shared their expertise and perspectives:

  • Johnny William Michael King, a media professional, entrepreneur, and founder of WanGo Hub

  • Alima Umu Sesay, entrepreneur and founder of Evolve 232

Alima Umu Sesay emphasized the importance of self-reflection in choosing a vocation, posing the question, “What do you wake up excited to do every day?” This introspective approach serves as a foundation for selecting a meaningful career path.

Johnny William Michael King outlined three essential pillars for choosing a vocation: wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. He explained:

  • Wisdom: Represents intuition, guiding individuals toward a vocation aligned with their inner calling.

  • Knowledge: Equips individuals with the skills and tools necessary for success in their chosen field.

  • Understanding: Enables individuals to navigate challenges and sustain their vocational journey.

A Meaningful and Engaging Session

The event fostered an educative and interactive environment, encouraging attendees to reflect on their career choices and the broader impact of their professional contributions. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our guest speakers for their profound insights and to all participants for their active engagement.

The Rotaract Club of Mount Aureol remains committed to promoting vocational service and empowering individuals to make informed, purpose-driven career decisions that benefit both themselves and their communities.
